Where Modern Craft Meets Island Living

This villa was designed for intimacy and light. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls invite the garden inside, while polished concrete floors and reclaimed teak beams anchor the open-plan interior. The structure sits on a quiet lane five minutes from Ubud's artisan quarter, surrounded by rice terraces and family-owned warungs that have served the neighbourhood for generations.

The property was completed in early 2024 by a Jakarta-based architect who specialised in passive cooling and natural ventilation. Wide eaves shade the terrace throughout the day, and a reflecting pool along the eastern wall catches morning sun. Inside, a king bedroom opens directly onto a private garden courtyard planted with frangipani and bamboo. The kitchen features a handmade ceramic sink and a four-burner gas range imported from Italy.

You'll find the villa stocked with locally roasted coffee, filtered water, and a small library of Indonesian literature. The host lives ten minutes away and can arrange motorbike rental, guided temple tours, or reservations at family-run restaurants in the surrounding villages. Parking is available on-site, and high-speed fibre internet reaches every corner of the property.

This is a home built for two people who value quiet mornings, good design, and proximity to both jungle trails and vibrant local culture. Whether you're working remotely or simply retreating, the villa offers a grounded, uncluttered base for your time on the island.

A Day in Your Private Bali Villa

You wake to the sound of wind moving through bamboo. Sunlight filters through the teak shutters, casting geometric shadows across the polished concrete floor. You slide open the glass doors and step onto the terrace, where the air smells of wet earth and jasmine. Coffee brews in the kitchen while you settle into one of the low rattan chairs, feet propped on the reflecting pool's edge.

By mid-morning, you've walked fifteen minutes to a nearby temple, passing farmers tending rice paddies and women carrying offerings balanced on their heads. Back at the villa, you rinse off in the open-air shower, its stone walls warm from the sun. Lunch is grilled fish from the market down the road, eaten at the outdoor dining table beneath the shade of the overhanging roof.

The afternoon stretches out. You read in the hammock strung between two coconut palms, or work at the teak desk with your laptop, the fibre connection steady and fast. As the heat softens, you take the motorbike into town for a walk through the artisan studios, watching woodcarvers and silversmiths at their benches. You return just before dusk, when the garden fills with the calls of evening birds.

Dinner is simple: vegetables from the organic stall, rice, sambal. You eat slowly, then soak in the outdoor tub under a sky dense with stars. Later, you lie in the king bed, windows open, listening to the rustle of palm fronds and the distant hum of motorbikes on the main road. The villa holds you in its quiet, and you sleep deeply.
